In response to the ED’s allegations that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was consuming high-sugar meals to elevate his blood sugar level in order to seek medical bail, Kejriwal stated he had eaten mangoes three times and aloo puri once as a Navratra prasad.

In Short:

  • The attorney for Arvind Kejriwal disputes the high-sugar diet claims made by ED
  • Arvind Kejriwal claims to have eaten sugar-free sweets, mangoes three times, and aloo puri once.
  • Earlier, ED said that Arvind Kejriwal was inflating his blood pressure in order to get medical release.

In response to the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) accusations that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was consuming high-sugar food in order to obtain medical bail, Kejriwal’s attorney told a court on Friday that the AAP leader had only eaten mangoes three times while incarcerated and had eaten aloo puri as a Navratra prasad.

The statement was delivered by Kejriwal’s attorney, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, before the Rouse Avenue Court during a hearing on a request to let Kejriwal to receive insulin shots because he has diabetes.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, petitioned Rouse Avenue Court on Friday, requesting that insulin be given to inmates. According to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the court would consider his petition at 2:00 pm.

Kejriwal has asked for permission to see his doctor every day for fifteen minutes via video conference because of his severe diabetes and unstable blood sugar. According to Live Law, he also requested that his spouse be present for these talks.

The chief minister of Delhi said that his acute diabetes has caused his blood sugar levels to fluctuate alarmingly since he was placed in judicial custody, posing a serious risk to his health.

This comes after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena ordered the director-general of prisons to deliver an accurate report about the accusations made by the AAP that Kejriwal was not receiving insulin in Tihar Jail.

The L-G’s ruling follows Delhi cabinet minister Atishi’s allegations—which the prison administration has refuted—that Kejriwal was the victim of a plan to assassinate him by depriving him of insulin and home-cooked meals when he was incarcerated.

The Raj Niwas tweeted, “Shri VK Saxena, @LtGovDelhi, has expressed grave concern over reports based on statements by Ministers & AAP leaders alleging non-provision of insulin to the Honourable CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal who is in jail & purported ‘conspiracies’ against him.”
