Companion Mode is available on mobile devices with Google Meet

In addition to the functions listed above, Companion Mode allows you to zoom in on viewable content and provides captions and subtitles for speakers.

The pre-join screen now has a Use Companion Mode button that users can click to access Companion Mode.

User audio and video will automatically be muted when you choose this option.

According to the business, locations where utilizing the feature on a laptop would be problematic are suitable for Companion Mode on mobile devices.

Users with personal Google Accounts and those using Google Workspace can now access the feature.

Companion Mode may not be available for weeks, though, as this depends on the release timetable of the Google Workspace platform at your place of employment or education.

On Monday, February 12, rapid-release domains will begin to see the feature; however, a full rollout may take up to 15 days.

Schedule release domains may need to wait an additional 15 days after February 27th, when Companion Mode will be available.

You must have Google Meet version 229 or Gmail version 2024.01.28 or later on iOS. Google Meet version 225.0 or 6.0.231231 or later on an Android device.
