Is Samsung planning to make its upcoming flagship phone an AI hub?

A couple of leaks over the weekend have given us a preview of some of the features of Samsung’s upcoming top Galaxy phone, the S24, even if its official release is still several weeks away.

An upgraded camera comes first. Although the S23 was thought to have one of the best cameras on the market, images occasionally appeared overexposed and unrealistically colorful. Thanks to typically trustworthy leaker Sondesix referencing “a source,” we now know that the S24 Ultra will feature enhanced sharpness and saturation of images, giving it a much more realistic finish.

Sondesix also shared some information on the device’s colors and materials, stating that the Titanium Gray model appeared “far better” than the natural titanium iPhone counterpart. Of course, that’s subjective, but the fact that the gadget will have a high-end appearance should reassure prospective buyers. The source for Sondesix also mentioned how much easier the phone feels to hold due to its flatter design than its predecessor.

The leak, however, claims that the AI-related elements are the largest increase. There have been rumors that the Galaxy S24 will fully utilize artificial intelligence, and it looks like that might be the case. According to reports, Samsung’s upcoming phone would have AI built in to perform tasks like speech recognition, text translation, picture generation, and content writing, including emails and texts.

More information about the phone’s display was provided via a leak from Ahmed Qwaider, who said that in addition to having a 2,600 nit screen, the phone will also use Gorilla Glass Victue 2, the hardest glass Corning produces. If that brightness is accurate, Samsung would now be much ahead of the 1,500 nits of Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max and Google’s Pixel Pro.

The excitement was somewhat subdued by MysteryLupin, though, when a leak revealed that the S23’s base model will only have 8GB of RAM. Although the RAM on the base model is fairly small, it is upgraded to 12GB on the Plus and Ultra models. That is comparable to RAM on the Google Pixel 8 and higher than that of the iPhone 15, but the S24’s on-board AI is not offered by those phones. Is there going to be enough RAM on the base model to operate it all?

Some of the color options were also revealed by the MysteryLupin leak, including the conventional gray and black as well as purple and yellow, all of which will have much fancier names when they are released.

It is anticipated that the S24 will be available sometime in mid-January 2024.
