Sandeep Sharma and Avesh Khan put up a masterful display in the final overs to deny Rahul and Pooran.

In the lengthy chase, Rajasthan Royals continued to upset the LSG hitters by collecting wickets on a frequent basis.

Trent Boult harmed LSG in the 194-run chase by taking a pair of early wickets.

Rahul has not played since the first Test match between India and England in Hyderabad at the end of January because of a quadriceps injury he suffered during the match. For the Indian batter, it has been a difficult journey ever since.

Although LSG, one of the two IPL 2022 debutants, has shown some consistency, Gujarat Titans, who competed in back-to-back finals, have eclipsed them.

LSG placed third in the most recent IPL season and advanced to the Playoffs, however both times they lost the elimination round.

With the infamous drama involving Virat Kohli, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Gautam Gambhir blowing out of proportion last year, LSG was in the news for reasons other than cricket.

However, now that all the animosity has subsided and Kohli and Naveen buried the issue at the World Cup, things are new.

There is one additional change in addition to captain Rahul. With Gambhir’s departure, the squad has added Justin Langer, a former Australian coach, who is thought to infuse the team with the finest of Australian culture.

 Despite having a large Indian team, Langer the taskmaster is well-liked to end LSG’s playoff curse. There is more staff on their support staff list.

 Assistant coaches Lance Klusener and Sridharan Sriram will oversee the fielding and bowling departments, respectively, with Jonty Rhodes and Morne Morkel.

A quick look at this LSG batting lineup should make the bowlers nervous. 

The enduring IPL star Quinton de Kock and the rising star Devdutt Padikkal, who made a splash on his debut and was the biggest star three years prior.

When the powerful hitting tandem of Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran is added, this order has more batting star power than both RCB and MI.

RR, LSG’s rivals, are equally dangerous on paper. Alone with Samson in terms of dependability is the IPL 2022 Orange Cap champion Jos Buttler, who will open the innings with Jaiswal, or ‘Jais-ball’ as they now call him.

 Jaiswal’s stats are rising after a record-breaking Test series against England in which he amassed over 700 runs, including two double hundreds.

He could be a serious contender to win the Orange Cap after breaking the record for the fastest fifty-ball in IPL history last year.

If Dhruv Jurel, Rovman Powell, and Riyan Parag continue their current form, their bowling lineup is, to put it mildly, really impressive.

The two main spinners are Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin, while Trent Boult spearheads the pace attack.

Even though Prasidh Krishna was disqualified from the competition, Avesh Khan had already participated.

Sanju Samson lastly. The skipper of RR has consistently performed well, and with the announcement of the T20 World Cup selection in May, Samson and Rahul would be keen to present their cases. 

Samson hasn’t played for India in the last two World Cup teams, but he’s a perfect fit for T20. 

Even though it was a completely different format, Samson’s century in an ODI against South Africa in January marked his first century for India. A hundred in a SENA nation is not taken lightly.

Along with Jitesh Sharma, Samson may have competition from Rahul for the position of wicketkeeper for India in the West Indies and the USA. It’s a three-way struggle, actually. 

Virat Kohli is not a certain starter in T20Is, therefore Rahul’s future remains uncertain aside from Rohit Sharma. 

So, keep an eye out for the upcoming months, particularly for Rahul and Samson’s performances.
