Good morning, University Watchers…. How fantastic was it that Paul joined us from Hawaii to discuss the Royals’ disastrous NOB game?
That’s quite amazing, especially considering how little time I have to spend online for the next week or two.
I’m happy to welcome back the one and only Jimmer Vilk, who will take over as our Weekend Editor in around two months.
Jimmer is passionate about cricket, a sport that is only now starting to get traction in the United States.
More precisely, the Indian Premier League’s 2024 uniforms. The Indian Premier competition (IPL) is the world’s largest and most well-liked cricket competition, for those who are unfamiliar (like me).

Some of you may remember that I studied abroad for a winter semester in England in 1987 (I actually had my 21st birthday in Stonehenge, which was quite the adventure).
In that time, there were essentially four sports available on television: cricket, snooker, soccer, and darts (yep, it’s a big sport there).
While I’m sure there were other sports, those seemed to be the only ones available to us at the moment.
I did, therefore, watch a good amount of cricket. and it’s a really interesting sport.
But I’m getting off topic. We’re here to talk about the much bolder and louder uniforms worn by the players in the IPL, not the cricket I watched (the kind where matches take like five days to finish, everyone wears all-white everything, and they pause play for tea).
And for that, nobody else is more qualified than Jimmer to provide his thoughts on this year’s IPL uniforms.
That’s enough about my yakkin’. This is Jim holding his.
