The BJP regains control of the State and gains a majority in the 60-member Assembly. With no opposition, the BJP has already secured 10 seats in the 60-member Assembly

According to Election Commission figures, the BJP won 33 seats in the 60-member Assembly on June 2, securing a majority and bringing the party back to power in Arunachal Pradesh for the third election in a row.

Voting for 50 seats, for which elections were held in the northeastern State on April 19, is under ongoing. The saffron party easily won the remaining ten seats. The BJP has taken the lead in 12 of the 50 seats and has won 23 of them.

In Changlang North, Tesam Pongte of the BJP defeated Dihom Kitnya of the NPP by a margin of 2,002 votes, and in Namsang, the party’s candidate Wangki Lowang triumphed over Ngonglin Boi of the NCP by a margin of 56 votes.

In the Palin seat, BJP candidate Balo Raja defeated NPP candidate Mayu Taring by a margin of 5,040 votes. By a margin of 1,698 votes, NPP candidate Pesi Jilen defeated BJP candidate Nyamar Karbak in Liromoba.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over a number of meetings today covering a wide range of topics, including a brainstorming session to examine the 100-day program of the next administration that will be sworn in following the Lok Sabha elections.

Even before the polls started, he had ordered various Ministries to draft the 100-day plan for the next administration.

To discuss plans on June 4, the day of the vote counting, the Congress party is scheduled to convene. Voter tallying for the assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim commenced at 6 a.m. today.
